Writing is an escape...

I like to call myself an unpublished writer. I write anything and everything that pops into my head: poetry, fan fiction, short stories, even (unfinished) novels. Though I haven't been published before, it is one of my dreams to publish a novel or a collection of short stories. Now if I could just finish one...

I lose motivation in my books quite easily. I'll be writing and it'll be coming along nicely until one day I'll set it down when I'm done and I won't pick it back up for months at a time and by the time I do pick it back up I've forgotten where I was going with it and why it interested me in the first place. This is where the blog comes into play. Maybe if I post enough about what I'm writing and what's going on with me in my day-to-day life I'll actually keep interest long enough to finish something I've started.

I used to have a blog on Myspace (Gasp! Did she just say Myspace!) that I would write in as often as I could. It was easy because I checked Myspace everyday so my blog was only one click away. But when Facebook came around I left Myspace. Facebook doesn't have a blogging section. Well they have a "notes" section but I don't think I'd want to use that for a blog... I tried going back to Myspace strictly for my blog. But now they've updated and there is no blog section (that I can find).

I tried other blogging sites. Wordpress, Livejournal, Tumblr (though my dashboard is mainly pictures of cats and stuff...), even Xanga. But I would forget about them and they'd lie for months before I found them again and I'd ultimately shut it down or just let it die. This will be different. Why? Because I say so. I got a new computer for Christmas last year and all it's been used for up to this point is Facebook, PC games, and browsing around. In fact I think this is the most I've typed on this keyboard in one sitting since I got it.

So here starts my new blogging journey. One that I hope will be kept up with. One that I hope will be read by others. One that I hope will keep me on track. Here's to writing!
